Drawing Room Wallpaper Paint Color
The August 2013 publication of Southern Living was a special decorating issue - “The New Guide To Southern Style”. In this issue there appeared an article titled “Centuries of Southern Style”. A home featured was the Nathaniel Russell House built in 1808 in Charleston, South Carolina. In the Drawing Room of the Russell House the walls were painted with a paint color developed when the Historic Charleston Foundation and Sherwin-Williams® teamed up to produce the color, Drawing Room Wallpaper (SWDCR035-NRH). The color was inspired by a paint analysis of hand-painted, European-made wallpaper original to the house.
Though not found in the current Sherwin-Williams® paint color fan deck this peachy color is available through Sherwin-Williams®. For this project ProMar® 200 Zero VOC Interior Latex Paint with a eggshell finish was used for the walls and a flat finish for the ceiling but the color could be made in many of their other paint products. The photograph below taken by Evan Sklar is from the article and is the Drawing Room of the Nathaniel Russell house showing their use of the Drawing Room Wallpaper paint color. The after and before photo above is a Master Bedroom painted after the owner was inspired by the article in her search for a new paint color. The trim and woodwork is a white slightly tinted with a small amount of yellow in order to match the trim of the home's other interior rooms. The ceiling is not white but was painted with approximately 8% of the original Drawing Room Wallpaper paint color formula.
As seen in the Southern Living article decor with gold accents pairs well with the Drawing Room Wallpaper paint color.
Drawing Room Wallpaper provides a nice background for naturally aged wood complementing the many brown, tan or orangish tones found in antique furniture.
Depending on your needs this paint color could be used in many situations. Try it in a bathroom, dining room or bedroom to brighten and cheer up the space. The formula below is the one used for this project, Sherwin-Williams should recognize it and be able to reproduce the color.
Drawing Room Wallpaper Paint Color Formula
6501-75433 Gallon B20W2651 PM 200 0 EG EXTRA
The formula given above should be double checked for accuracy by a Sherwin-Williams dealer and yourself. It is suggested to buy enough of the actual paint to paint sample boards to be viewed in the space to be painted before your final decision to paint the entire room. Differences in light, furnishings, time of day or night and personal tastes will dictate your choice.
